Engaging in sports and protecting the climate: The EnergieAgentur.NRW (Energy Agency North Rhine-Westphalia) and the State Sports Association North Rhine-Westphalia will now be awarding the "Climate Champions NRW." We, as Sports for Future, are involved in this award through our co-initiator Holger Nikelis (Paralympic champion in wheelchair table tennis).

"The award aims to motivate sports clubs and municipalities to develop and implement their own ideas to reduce CO2 emissions. Sport brings people together, and together we can achieve more than alone," says Nikelis.

The "Climate Champions" award will be presented in the summer of 2020 during an event. Best-practice clubs will gain increased visibility and public relations through the media of the LSB NRW (State Sports Association North Rhine-Westphalia) and its partners. In addition, there is a total prize money of 5,000 euros.
