EM 2024 soll "bisher nachhaltigstes Turnier" werden

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and DFB President Fritz Keller have agreed to the direction of the event social responsibility strategy (ESR) for the 2024 European Football Championship. This was announced by the German Football Association on Tuesday. Under the ESR, the tournament hosted in Germany is to become more sustainable.

The agreement "is part of the partnership with the United Nations," Ceferin said: "I am proud that together with the DFB we will do our best to make UEFA EURO 2024 the most sustainable tournament so far."

To achieve this goal, the organizers have set out several points. Among others, the theme of sustainability will be reflected in actions, and UEFA's and the DFB's activities in this area will be promoted. In addition, the tournament is to be realized with the help of a sustainable management system. According to the DFB, the implementation of the strategy goals will be addressed in a next step.

"Germany as a venue for UEFA EURO 2024 offers numerous advantages and ideal conditions for achieving positive sustainability results," Keller added.
