A NEW PARTNER: SCHOOL SPORT CHALLENGE PLANTS TREES

A colorful school – just like its logo: The Georg-Kerschensteiner-Oberschule reaches its students in various ways, even during the pandemic. From April 30 to May 2, they organized a charity run, where all students were encouraged to walk, run, jog, measure their running distances, and "green up" over several days. With this initiative, GKS kicks off its collaboration with Sports For Future. For the distances covered, the athletic youth sought sponsors who would pay them a certain amount of money for the (kilo)meters they ran. All proceeds are pooled and contribute to a reforestation project by the Zenaga Foundation and Sports4Trees. The GKS has chosen a project affiliated with a school in Nigeria (in the state of Akwa Ibom).

Claudia Totzke, the head of the sports department at GKS, hopes for a long-term partnership between the schools in Holdorf and Nigeria, representing the entire school community: "Maybe we'll even have a joint run in the near future." As a team from Sports4Trees, we are excited about the new member in our community!
