Our Green Schools project in Senegal, in collaboration with the Zenaga Foundation, has started this year in three schools in the regions of Kaolack, Fatick, and M'bur.
Our goal is to support the "Green Schools" and the local population with the help of local volunteers by planting fruit trees that can benefit the communities. Additionally, there is a focus on environmental education for the students, and the school sports fields are equipped with solar floodlights.
A lot has been accomplished so far: The first photovoltaic systems have been installed on the school roofs to provide energy for the solar lights on the sports fields. Also, the first 1600 of the planned 3000 tree seedlings have already been planted in the schools in Kaolack and Fatick. Another 800 plantings in Joal will follow in September.
