SPORTS FOR FUTURE YEAR IN REVIEW 2021

Dear Sports For Futures, dear friends and partners,

Another eventful year with Sports For Future is behind us, and we are proud and grateful for what we have achieved together in 2021. It is extremely motivating to see how diverse and imaginative the sports world approaches the topic of climate protection overall, as demonstrated by our network meeting in November. Thanks to all who are involved and support us because only together are we strong and have the power to truly make a difference. We want to share with you what has been happening with us this year: projects, collaborations, and important milestones.

First Sports For Future Network Meeting

More than 80 stakeholders from various sports disciplines came together at our first comprehensive digital network meeting on November 24, 2021, to exchange ideas about climate protection projects, discuss climate neutrality, and network. The meeting clearly showed how broad and diverse the sports world is on climate issues and the positive dynamics currently unfolding. A more detailed report can be found on our website.

Several exciting collaborations have significantly shaped our year 2021.

SID (Sports Information Service): The collaboration initially focuses on a news ticker prepared by SID, both in terms of content and technology, which is published on the Sports For Future website (www.sportsforfuture-relaunch.agenturwerk-entwicklung.de). The ticker bundles cross-sport news and stories related to climate protection and sustainability.

Freiburger Kreis: Together with Freiburger Kreis, myclimate, and Sports For Future aim to realize a CO2 calculator that allows even small clubs to determine their CO2 emissions with manageable effort reliably. The pilot club is TSC Eintracht Dortmund.

FanQFanQ: FanQ and Sports For Future have prepared a survey among sports fans to find out how important sustainability topics are to sports enthusiasts (both active and passive).

StadionweltStadionwelt: As a media partner, Stadionwelt editorially implements various sustainability topics and informs in its "Sustainability" section about the diverse possibilities of acting sustainably in stadium and arena business as well as in the field of club management. Innovationsmanufaktur: This collaboration resulted in the Athletes4Climate campaign with sports shooter and Olympian Carina Wimmer, as part of the Innovationhub Spitzensport. Deutsche Sportjugend: Sports For Future analyzed the German Sports Youth in terms of sustainability, assessing its sustainability as an organization and suggesting measures for more sustainable development within the organization and concerning its activities. The findings and recommendations were presented this year. Community Move: Together with the platform, we planned and implemented both the Summer Feeling Charity Run in April and Move4Trees in August. In addition to collaborations, we gained numerous signatories this year, including associations, clubs, and teams committed to climate protection. In total, we can count 331 signatories in our network! SPORTS4TREES Collaborations & Campaigns Various collaborations of our Sports4Trees campaign have contributed to planting countless trees this year, often linked to additional measures such as educational projects or solar energy. The donations from the University of Bayreuth's Summer Feeling Charity Run brought 14,554 trees for our myclimate partner project in Masindi, Uganda. Athletes4Climate, a coalition of Olympians contributing to a WWF reforestation project in Kenya, generated donations through the Fairplaid platform, where athletes offered services and rewards in exchange for donations. The "Ruderwald" supports our WWF partner project in the Chepalungu Forest in Kenya, planting 3560 trees to make a positive contribution to emissions from the rowing national team's flights to the Olympics. FC 1910 Lößnitz plants a tree in Kenya for every season goal with the WWF. Together with CommunityMove, we conducted Move4Trees during the Olympic Games, allowing participants to donate for reforestation in Uganda. New Projects and Updates Together with Forstfreunde and the football club SV Waldhof Mannheim 07, we advocate for mangrove reforestation in the state of Uyo, Nigeria. Waldhof Mannheim donates the additional euro from its climate ticket to the project. We expanded our second project in Nigeria this year. In Akwa Ibom, Sports4Trees/Sports For Future is committed to environmental education and creating school gardens with new tree seedlings. The Zenaga Foundation is the project partner, with which we also collaborate in other projects. With extensive support from the Georg-Kerschensteiner-Schule in Holdorf and also SV Waldhof Mannheim 07, we collected enough donations to include additional schools in the program. In total, there are now 17 schools. Additionally, a project in the city of Bankana in the DR Congo has been added. In line with a holistic approach, donations support not only tree planting but also promote solar energy and aid the local population. The project is sponsored by the BadmintONEarth campaign

Outlook

The new year also promises to be exciting. We plan, among other things, to continue and deepen our collaboration with Athleten Deutschland, Freiburger Kreis, and FanQ. Additionally, we are gearing up for an Ambassador Program, which aims to establish, support, and connect local Sports-For-Future ambassadors. We also intend to organize a second network meeting – if possible, in person. There is already a lot on the agenda, and we are looking forward to tackling these new initiatives and continuing to work with you to champion climate protection in the world of sports.

Many thanks to all supporters, partners, and friends for this successful year.

We wish you a joyful holiday season and a great start to the new year.

Best regards,

from the Sports For Future board Stefan Wagner and Claudia Fischer, as well as the entire team
