We are pleased to announce that the European Championships Munich 2022 is supporting Sports For Future!
From August 11 to 21, 2022, at the Olympiapark in Munich, the largest multisport event since the 1972 Olympic Summer Games will bring together 4,700 elite athletes from around 50 nations competing in nine sports.
The European Championships Munich 2022 is aware of its potential impact on the natural environment, society, and the economy. For this reason, a sustainability team was established at the beginning of the planning process, and a sustainability strategy was developed. The strategy considers the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to set new benchmarks for major sports events. In addition to the sports event, they are implementing 12 projects with the "Count & Last" initiative to achieve a sustainable impact.
"Major sports events have a direct relationship with the natural environment and possess an influence that goes beyond the purely sporting activities. Therefore, our guiding principle embeds sustainability as an overarching orientation for action within and outside the Local Organizing Committee (LOC)."
